I Need Your Help

The awesome, J.M. Strother of Mad Utopia is putting together the Best of 2009 #fridayflash Anthology to celebrate 6 months #FridayFlash. I have been participating off and on for about six months now, and I would really like to submit some of my work for consideration. The participant can submit up to three pieces, and I have no idea what to choose.

This is where I need your help (pretty please)

Some of you have read ALL of these and some just a few. I am not asking you to go back and read them (I am not going to complain if you do), but I would like you to let me know if any of the stories listed below has stood out to you.

Looking for a Savior (Eden Corp)
Goodbye (Eden Corp)
Finding a Nice Girl
Poker Face (Eden Corp)
Exile of Innocence (Eden Corp)
Remnants of War
Expecting (Eden Corp)
Forbidden Fruit (Eden Corp)
Past, Present, Future
The Cave

Jon lists on the site that a story in a series which "requires prior expisodes" should not be submitted. I wrote my Eden Corp stories to stand alone. If you feel that they do not, please let me know (they are all connected).

I REALLY appreciate your help on this. I am always so unsure of myself; and I can't thank you enough for reading, commenting, and just being awesome.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. There is a Possible Contest/Reader's Choice Award on Mad Utopia to go along with the Anthology. Go check it out: HERE

Thanks again!

  1. I think all the Eden Corp stories stand alone just fine. I plan to read all of them today, but assume they are all as good as the last one. I think that last one was incredible. I would recommend sending that one, without a doubt.

  2. Yes, it's really hard to just pick from all the darlings!

    O.k. here goes:

    Exiles of Innocence
    Forbidden Fruit
    Poker Face

    Hope it helps. :)

  3. I second Marisa's list. But I love them all. There are no losers in the bunch, so whatever you pick will be fabulous.

  4. Maggie - I hope you like the others as well (when you get the chance to read them). I really liked this one too, but in movie terms... lost my budgeting close to the end. I should have put more into it.

Marisa - Those are the Eden ones that stand out to me too. I really love "Exile of Innocence," and I hope to continue Jen's story soon.

"Forbidden Fruit" was actually part of another series I was dubbing "The Weekend Wars". That was the first story that started building the world of Eden, and I haven't been able to think of much else since.

I had a lot of fun with "Poker Face". While it was lighter, Eden was in the background spilling its darkness into everyday gossip.

Mollie - Thanks for your input. As always, I really wish you were writing #FridayFlash too.

  5. In the end, you're just going to have to pick 3. All of your stories are good. Go through the angst like the rest of us, Chuck. :)

  6. I'll tell you my three favorites if you want but as Laura said, you have to pick 3 yourself. They're all great. "Exile of Innocence" still gives me goosebumps. "Remnants of War" is cool as hell and "Looking for a Savior" is chilling.

But like I said they all stand on their own as great pieces. I can't choose. It's still on you I guess. :)

  7. Thanks Chris! I was actually going back and forth between "Remnants of War" and "Past, Present, and Future." They are both from the same series, and I really like them.

I really appreciate everyone's help. I am such a weenie when it comes to make decisions.

    Thanks again!

  8. I have not read all of them, but I did read most of them.

I think Remnants of War is wonderful and it would be my choice.

  9. I think your Eden Corp stories stand just fine alone, but it looks like my Unlikely Eden stories aren't going to make the cut (unless I submit Bring It)
